The problem
Task apps are easy to ignore. You snooze the reminder, the notification scrolls away, and the day happens to you instead of the other way round. The apps that do nag you tend to nag uniformly, giving the same buzz for “buy milk” as for the thing you have been avoiding all week.
What Goad does
Two things nobody else combines. First, it makes you plan the day before the day starts, with a morning planning step you cannot skip past into the task list. Second, its reminders escalate. Five levels, each more insistent than the last, and they do not stop until the task is actually marked done.
The craft
The escalation ladder is the whole product, so it is the most carefully tested part: the notification scheduling logic is covered by several hundred unit tests across a set of small, independently-testable Swift packages. A Live Activity keeps the current task on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
Everything is local. The task store, the schedule, and the escalation state all live on the phone. No account, no sync server, nothing to subscribe to.
